"Night Café at Arles" by Paul Gauguin
This great painting depicts the Café in the south of France that Gauguin and Van Gogh frequented while living together in Arles. This is the same Café that Van Gogh will feature in has famous “Night Café” painting. However, this is NOT the interior of his more famous “Café Terrace at Night”. Little known fact: Seconds after Gauguin finishes this painting Van Gogh will jump up, cut off his ear, and present it to one of the prostitutes in the rear (of the café). How do I know? I’m the guy slumped over in the back.
