"Chicken Coup" by Paul Gauguin
In 1882 Paul Gauguin quit his job as a stockbroker to pursue his passion for art. There is no doubt that artistically it was a brilliant move but on every other level it was pretty much a disaster. This is one of Paul’ s first paintings as a hobbyist. Here the chickens represent stockbrokers and the coup his office. The white duck – that’s Paul – he’s no chicken! Was he courageous or crazy? This week lets follow Paul’s life and career from Broker to broke and see if there are any lessons for present day wannabe artists doing the same. Hmmm.
