"Vision after the Sermon" by Paul Gauguin
After leaving the Paris Bourse, Gauguin started hanging out with the cool group – The Impressionists. This was great for his art but hard on his family and their finances. To save money they moved to northern France where Paul painted this. In this scene Jacob/Paul/art is seen wrestling with an angel/wife/family. I hope Mrs. Gauguin saw it coming, because shortly after he painted this, Gauguin slashed his wife and five kids and moved back to Paris. Justified by a vision from god, Gauguin was now free to let his art take him wherever it led. Bon chance mon ami!
