"The Night Café" by Paul Gauguin
Not inspired by Paris, Gauguin decided it was time for a road trip, so he headed south to live and paint with Vincent van Gogh. Much drinking and cavorting with prostitutes ensued but some great paintings were created including Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” and Gauguin’s “Yellow Christ”. Sadly, Van Gogh would lose his mind and part of his ear, while Gauguin would lose a friend and his desire to live in the civilized world. When a suicide attempt failed Paul sought contentment further afield in Tahiti. Ahhh Tahiti, sounds good, doesn’t it?
