"Scorned as Timber, Beloved of the Sky" by Emily Carr
I love a good title and this one is a beauty. For me, the title is a very important part of a painting. It helps the artist to direct the viewer to see what they have seen. This title is like a little poem as it describes the lone unlogged tree reaching into the sky. I don’t usually get poetry and this is no exception as I’m not really sure who beloves whom. Does the tree belove the sky or does the sky belove the tree? For me, it doesn’t really matter as I belove the painting and the title.
