"Cote St. Rose 1934" by Jack Hamilton Bush
Crosses keep turning up in my paintings and I’m not sure why so I thought I would look at some other artists and see if it is happening to them as well. JHB painted mostly abstracts but I really like this charming little landscape. I don’t know if the crosses were intentional but they make the painting for me. Since the painting’s title is French I’m going to assume this Canadian painter was a Catholic and he knew exactly what he was doing. I doubt he set out to paint a bunch of crosses along a road, but that is what he ended up with. The LORD truly works in mysterious ways!
