"In the Autumn of Life" by William Kurelek
This is a great painting featuring a multitude (biblical word) of crosses and even a crucifix. It is very subtle but the bare tree in the lower left has the suggestion of a crucified man on the hidden side. The lone wireless power cross and the central hedge cross also jump out at me. Kurelek had some serious mental health issues that a late conversion to Catholicism seemed to cure. My question: A what point did this charming prairie scene become a biblical cautionary tale? My answer: when the mushroom cloud appeared on the horizon. Nice work WK - I will take it from here.
