"Urban Landscape" by Frida Kahlo
Frida painted this small, simple rooftop scene shortly after a devastating bus accident that almost killed her and left her to a lifetime of pain. At the focal point of this composition I see two crosses, one of them big and red! Is this an accident after an accident? I don’t think so! The great thing about posing power poles as crosses is that you give a nod to god while also subtly dissing church power. But what did artists do before electricity and power poles? Or what would an artist do when a power pole is unavailable? What would GNAY do? Or WWGD? Tomorrow we find out.
