"The Potato Eaters" by Vincent van Gogh
Yesterday would have been Vincent’s 161st birthday. So, this week I give you MY version of his life in five paintings. This was one of Vincent’s first major works and was executed while living along side peasant workers in northern Holland. Somehow he is able to transcend the bleakness of their situation and show us the light within. This painting also foreshadows the life of poverty and struggle that awaits him as an artist. It doesn’t end well.
