"La Vie" by Pablo Picasso
This great allegorical Blue Period piece has it all for me. I seem to be drawn to paintings with mysterious figures engaged in unexplained actions. I see Picasso’s dead buddy apologizing to his mother for killing himself. Strong stuff from a 20 year old artist. I really like the extra layer of grief represented by the sketches of the sufferers in the background. Great painting, but what a bummer for a young painter in Paris.
