"Self Portrait" by Rembrandt van Rijn
Topic this week: Things real painters do that I ignore. Chiaroscuro. I can neither paint it or say it. Rembrandt was the master of it. That is, the use of light and shade to produce a stunning visual effect. I must say going from total blackness to bright highlights is quite dramatic. I have tried and failed. So instead of chiaroscuro, I will juxtapose the unexpected into an everyday scene to stun my viewers. Not quite the same, but that is all I have.
