"The Uncertainty of the Poet" by Giorgio de Chirico
It’s not that I really like these Chirico paintings, but I am drawn to them and their titles. A twisted, headless and limbless, statue stares fondly at a large bunch of over ripe bananas as a melancholy train speeds off in the distance. Clearly this deep metaphysical riddle of a painting deserves a very thorough analysis. My investigation concludes that the statue is the poet and she is uncertain which banana to take (if she could).
