While GNAY does his time, I thought we might look at some other “rising stars” in the art world to get a handle on the competition. Jeff Koons is more know for his sculptures than his paintings, but his work is still relevant for comparative purposes.  In 2013 his stainless steel sculpture, Balloon Dog (orange), fetched (haha) $58,000,000 at auction making it the most expensive artwork ever sold by a living artist. In a similar fashion to GNAY, Jeff uses a mash up of references from art history and pop culture in his work, but from my perspective misses the mark. For my hard-earned dollar, I’ll take a GNAY instead (or several).
