"Cat and Bird" by Paul Klee
In 1928 Paul’s career was in a slump so he resorted to the sure thing – throw in a cat! He doesn’t just include a cat – he makes it all about the cat. This cat clearly has birds on his mind. He is not a grumpy cat, but not a happy camper either. To me, he seems possessed or in a trance. If you want to catch a bird you have to “be the bird”. Klee “becomes the cat” and his painting career is saved! It works every time.
