"A Peaceful Retreat" by Thomas Kinkade
This week the saga of Thomas Kinkade. At one time he was America’s most loved painter. In America alone over 30,000,000 of his paintings and prints hang proudly over fireplaces. The self proclaimed “Painter of Light” was famous for his uplifting idyllic country scenes. He was a devout Christian and many of his paintings reflect this. His work was widely scorned by critics and labeled as “kitsch”. He sure sold a lot of “kitsch”. Sadly, this tale does not have a happy ending.
