"Casa de Marta Pintuco" by Fernando Botero
This week my fascination with Botero continues. I don’t speak Spanish but I don’t think that will affect my interpretation of this great work of art. In an obvious “casa” of ill repute men, women, and a baby find themselves in varying postures and states of undress. I can see Botero’s gears turning as he conceived and executed this fine painting. I would say he started with the man in bed and ran with it, adding elements on the fly. My favourite bits : The man on the floor, the wine bottle, the cigarette butts, and of course the baby. What fun!
