"Winter 1946" by Andrew Wyeth
Handicapped girl becomes running boy. House becomes fence. Field stays field. For me crawling girl is way more intriguing than running boy, but this is another great composition with minimal elements. If you care: the boy is Andrew and the hill represents his dead dad. Very moving. All in all I like this painting but I am starting to wonder what makes Wyeth one of America’s most loved painters. Maybe it’s the grass.
