"Slave Ship (Slavers Throwing Overboard the Dead and Dying, Typhoon Coming on)" by J.M.W. Turner
This is a little more interesting to me. It is 1840 and Turner is taking a stand against slavery, which I am sure was very popular at the time. He has nicely counterbalanced his vague (pre)impressionistic style with a long and detailed title. I think he was afraid his point would be missed if he called it, “Ship on Sea with Sunset #324”. There might be more to Mr. Turner than I originally thought! DISCLAIMER : If you really want to learn something, don’t listen to me – go to the movie.
