"Early Sunday Morning" by Edward Hopper
Hopper’s cityscapes always seem to occur in the early morning or late evening and I think that is important for their broad appeal. The emptiness of the street, the long shadows and, oh yah the title, all say early morning. For me it’s not a painting of a building but a painting of a special time of day. It’s that time of day before all the craziness starts, and in the quiet solitude of the moment, you might just glimpse your true self. I think that is why people are drawn to his work and I hope to recreate a similar moment in my own.
