"Moon Pine, Ueno" by Utagawa Hiroshige and "Ueno" by Gary Nay
"Moon Pine, Ueno", Utagawa Hiroshige Ueno" by Gary Nay
Two things I did not see a lot of in Tokyo : paintings and trees. On the left, a woodblock print from 1857. On the right, my photo of a tree in Ueno Park. Kind of similar don’t you think? However, the view through the tree from the Temple is now dominated by modern skyscrapers. Isn’t it interesting though, that two artists, separated by 7500 km and 150 years, both went ah-ha! looking at the same thing. Could I be harbouring the re-born soul of this great Japanese Master? Lets find out.
