"Going West" by Jackson Pollock
Well I couldn’t find that old picture of my wife and I but I did find this early Jackson Pollack painting. Pollack studied under Thomas Hart Benton and I think you will agree it really shows. Hunched over figures moving through a swirling landscape under an ominous sky. This piece a tad darker, more devilish, and less figurative than THB’s work, but still reminiscent. My goal this week: Follow Pollock from here to “Jack the Dripper” and explain Abstract Expressionism and the meaning of life along the way. I like a challenge.
