"Science and Charity" by Pablo Picasso
This week I give you Pablo Picasso’s life in five paintings. The story is baby Pablo’s first word was “pencil”. I believe it. His father was an art teacher and quit painting when Pablo surpassed him at the age of 13. He painted this at the age of 15 and we can see that the young Picasso could really paint and was not afraid to tackle a complicated subject. For me the best bit is the sick patients green hand. Sick. I think this portends Pablo’s movement away from traditional painting. In fact this is the last “academic” painting Pablo will ever do.
