"Ma Jolie" by Pablo Picasso
Around 1909 and in his late twenties Pablo starts “fooling around” with abstraction and in particular cubism. I’m sure from an art history perspective this was very important, but I find these early cubist works confusing and boring. They will bring Pablo fame and fortune, and contentment. NOT! Here is where you get your money’s worth. The title translates to “My Pretty Girl” and Picasso will go on to marry two and have affairs with many, many more. So this painting is roadmap to a future filled with “fooling around” in both art and love. Money.
