"For the Love of God" by Damien Hirst
This is a sculpture not a painting. It was created in 2007 at a cost of $25,000,000. Diamond encrusted platinum doesn’t come cheap! The skull on which it is based is that of a man that died at the age of 35, roughly 250 years ago. Apparently if you are in London and you need a skull for an art project, they are easily had. Here is the creepy bit: the teeth are original. It’s right in the artworks material list - platinum, diamonds, and human teeth. Creepy right! Anyhow, an anonymous buyer not perturbed by this gross fact snapped it up for $100,000,000. Maybe I’m just too sensitive for this game. Great title by the way.
