"Bathers on the Beach - under Umbrella" Rafael Zabaleta
Your Spanish, it’s 1955, and Picasso is killing it, so what is a painter to do? Jump on the bandwagon of course! Part abstract, part cubist, and all bathers Zabaleta jumps on big time. I can’t say I blame him. I don’t mind this painting but I hate the title. He needs a couple more hyphens like – with Picasso like bathers playing volleyball in the middle ground or – cubist boats at play in the background. Come on Rafael, if you are going to go for it – go for it!
