"Olympia" by Edouard Manet
If you look closely, on the right you will notice a small black CAT that may even be a KITTEN. When first exhibited in 1865 this future masterpiece shocked audiences. Was it the coy naked prostitute that caused the scandal? No, the people of France were comfortable with that. It was the shameful and flagrant use of a CAT to garner more LIKES that set audiences squealing. Of course Manet’s cheap ploy worked as this painting now hangs proudly in Paris’s “Musee d’Orsay”. Side Note: This model went on to live a normal happy life.
