"Carcass of Beef" by Chaim Soutine
Inspired by Rembrandt, Soutine did a series of still life paintings from a beef carcass. Yuck! Apparently the mess and smell were horrific and invited several visits from the local Gendarme. What kind of subject is this anyhow? If you succeed and capture it perfectly haven’t you produced a gross and disgusting image that nobody would hang on his or her wall? I wouldn’t want it in my house. This painting recently sold for $28,000,000. Wrong again GNAY!
