"The Circumcision of the Christ Child" by Willem de Poorter
What do you think of this 2012 acquisition by our National Gallery? Why is our Nat Gal trafficking in fuzzy 17th century religious drawings by unknown Dutch artists? Do you think they will ever show it? Why would they, you can’t even see the lads little thing, or the expression on his tiny face as his foreskin is lanced. The artist has completely missed the point. For my money our NatGal would have been far better off with GNAY’s “The Vasectomy of the unknown Artist”. Surgical art at its finest!
