"Taylor Bay, Gabriola Island" by E.J. Hughes
Having just visited Gabriola Island, this is a very exciting find for me. Great artists think alike etc. This is the calm and nature loving E.J. Hughes. In this scene a fisherman quietly toils while anchored in an idyllic and peaceful cove. Lovely stylized cabins and trees populate the far coast, making this a typical west coast vignette. But wait – what is that lurking off the point! It’s another smoke spewing demon ship! Little known E.J. Hughes fact: he was afraid of boats and the sea. Well known GNAY fact: he also fears boats and the sea. Hmm.
