"A Laurentian Vendor" by Paul Archibald Octave Caron
Although this is a large oil painting and our Paul Caron is a small watercolour, they are of the same subject, which is important for valuation purposes. Caron was a huge fan of the “Geese Vendor” and lovingly depicted it often. For me, this piece awakens fond childhood memories of our local poultry vendor. I’ll never forget those joyful sleigh rides atop a steaming mound of bleeding ducks and quail. Tomorrow as I value our tiny watercolour, I will try not to let my sentimentality for the subject cloud my judgment.
