"Mona Lisa age 12" by Fernando Botero
If the elongated necks of Modigliani don’t do it for you, maybe something sturdier with no neck will. Comparing this portrait with yesterday’s, shows me that a painted portrait is more about the artist than the sitter. That makes sense. If you want a perfect likeness, go to Sears and get your portrait done. If you need to put on a couple of pounds get Fernando to paint it. I think this is a really fun painting and I sense Botero’s joy in creating it. Did he like his model? I don’t think “La Gioconda” actually sat for Fernando but I think it is fair to say he likes da Vinci’s version.
