The thing about being an artist is that there are ups and downs. 1986 - Harrison designs the Yukon pavilion for the Vancouver Expo to great acclaim. 1987 – Harrison is awarded the Order of Canada for his contribution to Canadian culture. 1988 – Harrison, due to flagging sales, is forced by his agent to do this cat painting. I feel his pain; I’ve been there too. I also feel Ted’s whimsy and delight, but feel his work is a bit too charming and shallow for me. The simple addition of a cigarette or a black feather, strategically placed in the cat’s mouth, would take this painting to the next level. The GNAY level!
