"Scull" by Jean-Michel Basquiat
Last weeks artist, Ted Harrison, was a little light and fluffy and lacked in edge. This week, how about a painter with maximum edge and minimum whimsy? Meet Jean-Michel Basquiat who will go from “bad boy graffiti artist” to “golden boy” to dead, all by the age of 27. From this early painting we can clearly see JMB has a lot going on in his head. I see bugs and snakes and scars, lots of scars. In case you don’t read Haitian, the words at the top loosely translate to “my brain hurts” and are a clear cry for help. This should be interesting.
