"Bedroom at Arles" by Roy Lichtenstein
Hey look! Roy Lichtenstein has gone to Arles France and cleaned up Vincent Van Gogh’s bedroom. The shirts are pressed, the bed is made, and the clutter on the night table has been removed. This is a giant (11 x 14 feet) homage to Van Gogh, whom Roy must have admired and been inspired by. It lacks the frantic, spontaneity of Vincent’s original; Lichtenstein was meticulous and methodical and it shows. GNAY also admires Van Gogh and has featured Vincent’s humble chair in at least five paintings. Luckily, I have my insurance agent on speed dial!
