"Bar at the Folies Bergere" by Edouard Manet
Recently in London, doing research for this blog, I discovered the Courtauld Institute of Art. Here is a short history: In the early thirties a rich textile magnate, Sam Courtauld, and a couple of buddies decide to buy some paintings and open a gallery. It is an amazing collection that includes today’s most sought after paintings and artists. It’s like they used a Christie’s auction catalogue from today to choose their paintings. This was a great pick as it is regarded as Manet’s second most famous painting. GNAY’s estimated value $150,000,000. Nice pick.
