"Harbour" by Alex Colville" and "Sorry, Lot Full" by GNAY
Harbour by Alex Colville Sorry, Lot Full by GNAY
At the same Heffel auction this Colville went for $1,800,000 (over 3X the estimate). I really like Alex’s work but this is far from his best and I think it is fair to say the Colville train has also left the station. But hey, look at this similar piece by the relatively unknown GNAY. To me, it is uncanny that these two artists separated by 40 years and 3,000 miles come up with a similar response to “ships in their harbour”. I think it’s fair to assume GNAY is a west coast Colville and possibly Heffel’s next big thing! Damn, I wish my tree was a dog!
