"Hauptstrasse (Mit Mann)" by Gabriele Munter
I am drawn to artists that de-clutter or simplify what they see. Gabriele Munter, a German expressionist painter, who died around the time I was born, was great at this and I really like her simple paintings. There are not a lot of lines in this painting but I think each one was carefully thought out. I also think the mann was added at the last minute to balance the composition. Since he looks a bit like me I am literally drawn into the painting and onto the strasse. Tomorrow: we visit the yellow house you can see in the distance.
