"Cave Painting", Lascaux, France
Yesterday a group of tipsy but sure-footed French spelunkers accidentally discovered this cave painting. Although the subject is intriguing, what makes this painting interesting is the fact that it has been signed. Scrawled with a red oxide pigment, the signature “GNAY” is clearly visible in the lower right hand corner. Carbon dating reveals that both the painting AND the signature are roughly 15,000 years old! The French government moved quickly to designate this a World Heritage Site and are looking for any information on this talented ancient artist.
