“Christina's World” by Andrew Wyeth
A little closer to home, the farm depicted here is in Cushing Maine, USA. This painting lacks the colour of the previous field paintings but gives us lots of “thought provocation” which, as you may know, is a big part of any painting for me. Although a bit bland, it is a pleasant enough scene of a girl on a nice day in a New England field. The real story is: Christina suffers from a horrible degenerative nerve disease and can only crawl from place to place. Very sad but it makes you think. On a happier note this farm is a National Historic Site and the buildings have been moved and renovated to match the painting. Try doing that with a GNAY!
