“Field with Poppies” by Vincent van Gogh
I am working on a painting that involves a view of fields and farms, so I am looking at paintings from other artists (in my league) that have tackled this subject. Vincent spent a lot of time “in the field” and produced a barrage of paintings, of this pretty dull subject, that are full of colour and movement. I think you will agree, when you look upon a field, it is easy to mentally write it off as bunch of green(s). Vincent really immersed himself in his subject and always saw and painted an explosion of colour that many would be blind to. So my lesson for the day is, in both life and painting fields - “Its not all about the green (backs)”.
