“House in Winter” “Shelter from the Snow Storm”
I started looking at Leonard Cohen’s visual art and saw a lot of similarities to my own. We both do/did limited edition prints and have tackled many of the same subjects. His style is a little looser than mine but we both incorporate a certain amount of whimsy (carelessness) into our work. On the “thought provoking edge front” I think Leonard saved that for his poetry and song writing. His simple sketches are light and playful and seem like an escape from the rigors of being a serious poet. GNAY on the other hand, at his easel 24/7, isn’t very serious, but still likes to make you think. This week: Cohen and GNAY – side by side.
