“Madame Roulin and Baby” by Vincent Van Gogh
Even big league artists, such as GNAY and Van Gogh don’t hit it out of the park every time. However, praise and big dollars are often heaped on lousy paintings from well-loved artists. I’m going to change that this week, and show you some crummy paintings from artists that I love, and tell you what I really think. This painting sucks. Sorry Vincent. Yellow and green work for sunflowers and wheat fields but not for Madonna and child. Kudos for trying, but stunned babies and their adoring mothers make for a lousy subject (plus they are a drag to hang around). It looks to me like you painted this while looking through a bottle of Absinthe. Speaking of which, your day would have been far better spent at the café, drinking with Gauguin and Co. That’s what I would have done.
