“The Bath” by Leonard Cohen an “The Bath” by GNAY
“The Bath” “The Bath”
If you are an avid reader of GNAY’s painting of the day, you know that artists have been depicting bathers for centuries.1 Notably Cezanne, Picasso, Renoir and Degas. Usually “the bathers” are frolicking nude at the beach, as they were want to do in the old days. In the case of Degas, intimate portraits of women washing up or toweling off. Only two artists, that I know of (and I know a lot), have depicted their bathers “dans la baignoire” (in the tub). Those two painters are, of course, Cohen and GNAY. There are some notable differences. His is a more graphic portrayal while mine is more graphic in style. But all in all, I think you will agree – great minds paint alike!
