"The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronymus Bosh
This massive (7x13 feet), triple whammy, detailed Flemish Masterpiece, has been studied and debated by art historians for over 500 years. Small problem: they have all approached it with the same thesis of biblical history, prophecy, and damnation. In short from left to right: Panel 1 - Adam meets Eve in Paradise, Panel 2 – The enjoyment of earthly delights, Panel 3 – paying the price in Hell. Since 1510 all we have had is variations on this same boring theme. This week, I will challenge 500 years of art history with my, new, bold, and mind blowing interpretation of this important Netherlandish painting. Whether I will be laughed at or canonized, remains to be seen, but I will be noticed.
