“The Garden of Earthly Delights” (detail) by Hieronymus Bosh
So, for centuries art scholars, theologians, and other big thinkers have read this triptych1 from left to right as a biblical cautionary tale. However my research has shown that Bosch, like Da Vinci, was left handed and wrote and read backwards. This means that this painting should be read from right to left. So we start here in what was hell and it doesn’t look too bad to me. I mean, if getting kissed by a hedgehog, dressed as a nun, is as bad as it gets, bring it on. So if it isn’t hell where is it? My theory: its here and now. Think about it.
1A three paneled painting common in the really old days but popularized by GNAY in 2016.
