The Life of GNAY in 5 Paintings

At the age of seven I wanted to go to art school, but instead my dad put me to work in the fields. That’s me with my back to you, in the foreground, in a dress (don’t ask, it’s sad). This upbringing would lead me in later life to famously remark, “If you don’t like something, change it, if you can’t change it, change your attitude”. I made the best of my situation, working 12 hours a day in the fields and secretly crafting potato prints in my closet at night. Although none of my efforts from this period have survived (most fed to our goat), critics said they surpassed the etchings of Durer and maybe even Rembrandt! Not bad for a seven-year-old with a bent shoe nail and a purloined potato. Not bad.
