Sadly, I have not been able to finish my urban landscape and show it to you today with great fanfare and celebration, as I had planned. Instead I will use this as an opportunity to show you how one of my paintings evolves from a simple idea into a finished “whimsical, but thought provoking” ™ composition. Obviously, this could backfire, leaving me defrocked and denounced, as a fraudster and forger, but I’m willing to take that chance. So, over the next five days I will take you behind the curtain, as this painting becomes a finished GNAY. ™ The simple idea: A painting of Vancouver’s Gastown that will be popular with tourists and locals alike. We start (ten hours in) here, with my favourite Gastown building, the Flatiron style, Hotel Europe. Now the fun begins!
