We at Artzila are very excited to have Erik Cheung join the ranks of our other great Canadian artists. Erik Cheung is an Edmonton based artist. He went to university in Vicotria where he studied with Canadian artists, Don Harvey, Greg Pyra, Ethel Christensen, and Pat Martin Bates.

Erik has developed his current style, ‘constructive abstraction’ over three decades.  Hi influences are wide ranging, from ancient masters to Canadian aboriginal art.

His works are carefully thought out and methodically created. He likens his process to that of a poet who does not simply place his words spontaneously and call it expressive. In the same way, Erik meticulously places colour and shapes to balance the composition, all based on his aesthetic knowledge.
