"House of Dread" by Rockwell Kent
How about this painting? A sturdy (GNAY-like1) naked man posed dramatically against a house on a cliff with a women hanging out the upper window. This is Brigus, Newfoundland 1914 and Rockwell is living in this house with his wife and kids. His girlfriend in Boston has just told him she is pregnant. Talk about living on the edge! Talk about angst! Strange behaviour: including drinking, fighting, and singing loudly in German did not go over well with the locals. WWII was afoot and Rockwell, suspected of being a German spy, was deported. Did I mention its not easy being an artist?
