"Portrait of Rockwell Kent" by Jamie Wyeth
First of all Rockwell doesn’t have GNAY’s boyish good looks, but I guess if you like the rugged type… Notice the female form hurtling to her death off the cliff in the background. That’s Sally Moran, socialite and sometimes Kent model. She mysteriously “disappeared” while visiting Kent on Monhegan Island in the winter of 1953. Her body was found three weeks later, thirty miles offshore. Rockwell was never charged with anything but he quickly left this island he loved, never to return. Not surprisingly, after this incident, Kent had difficulty recruiting female models.
